The poet Joseph Salyards captured the idyllic essence of Rosendale Shenandoah Valley Bed and Breakfast when he wrote: "It seems that Nature shapes a plan And molds a dwelling spot for man." Nestled on pastoral lands at the base of the Massanutten Mountains halfway between Harrisonburg and New Market, Virginia, Rosendale, once home to "some of the finest blooded animals in the Shenandoah Valley," is rich in natural beauty, wildlife, architecture, and history.

The mansion at Rosendale, modestly known locally as "the farmhouse," is one of the most beautiful surviving homes in the Valley. It is being authentically restored by historic preservationist and Innkeeper Paul Murphy, whose earlier projects included Pavilion 9 in Jefferson's Academic Village at the University of Virginia. The perfect Shenandoah Valley Bed and Breakfast setting.

You will marvel at the well preserved manor house with its grand verandas, two-story antebellum columns, and warm heart pine flooring. The original log house, now the dining room, built in 1790 and expanded in 1870, is perched on top of a hill overlooking Smith's Creek and the gently rolling hills beyond. What a great place to consider for your Shenandoah Valley Lodging Virginia.

A large limestone "Spring House", where milk was once cooled and laundry was done, as well as a picnic area under mature Maple trees are located to the North of the mansion, on the grounds of our Shenandoah Valley Bed and Breakfast..

To the West is a brook and a wooded preserve populated by deer and wild turkey. Beyond that are the riding pastures, so bring your horses (stable lodging and pastures are available).
