Rosendale Inn has hosted leadership and strategic planning retreats for Washington D.C. based companies and government agencies, as well as church group retreats.  Video and audio equipment can be made available.

Grounds Rental

In the two hundred years of its history, Rosendale has hosted hundreds of weddings, birthday, anniversary, and other celebrations and events involving large numbers of people and requiring plenty of lawn space for tents, outdoor activities, and parking.  With 20 acres we will probably have adequate space for your needs.

Bike and Biker Friendly

Secure bike garage parking

Picnic Area

With approximately three acres of lawn and 20 acres of grounds, we have plenty of room for picnics.  A large picnic table and area is available near the bird sanctuary.

Parking

The cottage has its own private parking.  There is a large parking area for guests staying in the main house.

Games

Chess sets, Chinese Checkers, Scrabble, jigsaw puzzles, and other games can be found in the Library.

Fishing

Rosendale’s grounds include a portion of Smith Creek, the beneficiary of a large-scale project to revitalize the stream to a point where the native trout species can again thrive, so bring your fishing gear.  Prior to the Civil War, trout up to 5 and 6 pounds were common in the stream. A fishing license is required.  We can also recommend numerous fishing holes in an around Rockingham County.

Bird and Butterfly Sanctuary

A variety of “Butterfly Bushes” and natural habitat, including trees along the stream flowing from Massanutten mountain and along Smith Creek, and feeders attract a variety of birds to the Rosendale grounds. Wild Turkeys are thriving in the area, and migratory birds, geese and duck, are in abundance on Smith Creek.
